This is one bad boy who’s fit to print. A notorious jock tackles life—and love—after football with a type-A journalist in this sexy standalone from the author of Eye Candy.

“Contemporary romance perfection, with just the right amount of witty banter and stomach-flip romantic moments.”—New York Times bestselling author Lauren Layne

Barrett: As a former pro football star, I’m used to playing the field. After injuries cut my NFL career short, my second act as a broadcaster ended on live television when a hot mic picked up a little verbal . . . indiscretion. But this latest publicity stunt might just land me back on top—much to the chagrin of Catarina Everhart, the prissy, beautiful journalist who’s been assigned to date a bad boy (i.e., me) and write about it. Catarina swears I’ll never touch her, let alone kiss those full lips of hers. Based on our chemistry, I’m not buying it. . . .

Catarina: Barrett Fox seems to be doing everything in his power to make me hate him. The cocky egomaniac is infamous for his bad behavior, and now, thanks to my boss’s harebrained schemes, he’s apparently my problem. As one fake date leads to another, I start to see a different side of Barrett. He’s close with his family. He does volunteer work. And, okay, he kisses like a dream. Am I really dating Barrett Fox? Or is he playing me? Because suddenly I’m risking my reputation—and my heart.

  • Good story

Rumor Has It is a nice addition to Jessica Lemmon's Real Love series. Written in first person, alternating between Barrett and Catarina, Rumor Has It tells the story of Barrett, a football star turned broadcaster and Catarina, a reporter. Barrett was a star player for The Ohio State University Buckeye's football team. He went on to a career in the NFL but was injured so he turned to reporting. After losing his temper with a ref during a broadcast he lost his job and now needs to improve his image. Catarina works for The Columbus Dispatch and writes an online column in the Columbus Community Chat. She's been assigned to "date" Barrett and they each will write a column about their fake dates. Catarina isn't too happy about being stuck with Barrett and they get off to a rocky start. I really enjoyed this story; it was funny and sexy and you know that Barrett and Catarina are going to end up together because it's a romance. But finding out how they get to the HEA was entertaining; their journey wasn't real smooth. Barrett struggles to write his column but he won't let Catarina help him. Once his secret is revealed it causes a major bump in the road for them. The sexy time between Barrett and Catarina is hot! The story drug just a bit for me in the beginning but by the end I was very teary eyed and happy that they finally got their HEA. A review copy was provided by the publisher via NetGalley but this did not influence my opinion or rating of the book.
  • The Silver Lining

    By Craftychic@34202
Bad boy ex-FB player Fox and Journalist Kitty Cat are on an assignment to Fake-date each other for a column. Both are resistant to the idea but the former Bad boy is trying to save his career and she, a brilliant journalist doesn’t want anything to do with him. They eventually date and layers are removed by both to reveal what they both desired all their life. They do fall for each other, but one small column makes him question her motives and he believes the tabloid quirk. She has been duped by her editor and threatens to quit after his temper goes wild. He grovels to get her back and still craving a HEA. Sweet little story that we all have our fears to conquer, but the silver lining is letting go. New author to like.
  • So good!!

    By Laura__F
Rumor Has It is book 4 in the Real Love series but it's the first that I've read. Catarina is a journalist who has to 'date' The Bad Boy of the NFL, Barrett, for a series of columns for the magazine she works for. Barrett is trying to save his career as a broadcaster after being caught on a hot mic. Catarina is a perfectionist and hates this assignment. Barrett is arrogant and does his best to live up to his nickname. I'm a sucker for enemies to lovers and fake relationship stories. This book was so funny and once these two succumbed to the insane chemistry between them, there was an intense amount of heat. After reading Rumor Has It, I have to go back and read the first three books in this series!!!! *This is my voluntary review of an advanced reader copy*
  • Great read!

*I won this book off of Netgalley* I could not put this book down and I read this all in one day! It was that good! The writing was fantastic, the chemistry was off the charts, and the plot line was interesting. I have not read this author before but I’ll definitely be looking for other books she’s written. I smiled, laughed, and was sad while reading this book. When an author can make you feel all of that, they did a great job! Pick this up when it hit shelves May 15th!
  • Best Read This Year!

Review That cover, that cover ladies is the lure right into the spider web that is Barrett Fox. Once there, you won't want to leave. I read this book twice, yes I did. You know you read a book and wonder what was going on in the authors mind when they wrote it and what they were thinking .....yeah you know. You've done it. Holy hell what a story this is and I loved Cat and Barrett. Barrett took a little getting used to, kind of like trying to scratch the itch you just can't reach. Cat was extraordinary. I loved her. Her wit, brains, sarcasm and low tolerance for Fox's bull. Barrett just gets off on rubbing Cat the wrong way and nicknames her KittyCat. One more thing she added to the pile of nonsense that grated on her nerves about Barrett. The list just grew. Cat writes a lifestyle type column for a newspaper and her boss decides to kick things up a notch with summer coming and Cat's relationship articles are going to take a new twist when she's going to "fake" date the ex NFL player and now unemployed football commentator Barrett Fox. This serves two purposes, makes the paper money her boss Mia says and Fox needs the good press after his blowout at a bad call on live TV. Cat is instantly against the idea and when she meets Barrett, she's doubly sure she wants no part of this jackal wearing dress pants and nice shoes. Barrett can't help himself every single chance he gets he's busting her chops and totally loaded with innuendo. Oh this man. He made me crazy in the best way. So these two go on dates, each writes a commentary about the date, separately. Neither of them knows what the other wrote until they read it. Barrett really struggles getting his thoughts down and Cat offers to help and he declines, meanwhile he's wooing her with coffee and being nice. Seriously... he is. The relationship evolves and these two throw off more sparks than the 4th of July. Barrett was a panty dropper without a doubt and had Cat purring. The back and forth was great. The dialogue was over the top. The way they played of each other was the best. I wanted to wake and shake too! Then like all great stories when one (Fox) of them steps in it and suffers from verbal diarrhea, along with a couple other unmentionable ailments; wow did I ever get whiplash. Cat already dealing with enough and there's Barrett. She did what I would have done. Barrett deserved to simmer in his own juices a little longer than he did. I had a couple WTH moments when I read what he said twice. I told you I read the book twice. Is all well that ends well? This book is an absolute must read and my favorite book of the series!! Starting with that cover. Just dive into this one like I did, because it's that good. It deserves far more than 5 stars. It's a keeper. Insanely great read Jessica! **arc from NetGalley and publisher for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.** (less)
  • Fun

I received an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I found this book to be a very enjoyable read. I have read other books by this author in the same series and I am eager to read the rest of the books by her. I loved the pet names that Catarina and Barrett called each other. As a special education teacher I was impressed that the author added the element of dyslexia to one of the main characters. It is a real struggle but it does not have to set limits on what you can do in your life - it may take more work/effort but you have to be willing to strive for the best.
  • Romance at its finest

    By beckyb0416
If ever a story brought me to tears, this one did, but in a good way, Barrett Fox definitely created more of an emotional response then so very many characters before him...Ms Lemmon has always been able to elicit that response from me with each of her books. It was not only the chemistry drew me into Barrett and Catarina's world, but more so by the honesty that is expressed when least expected. Seeing a man so unavailable as Barrett Fox fall so deeply exceeded all expectations for the type of HEA that I've come to expect from other authors...this author definitely knows how to deliver the unexpected and capture your heart at the same time. Well done Ms Lemmon. This ARC book was complimentary, provided by the Publisher and NetGalley. I am voluntarily providing my honest review.
  • Fun, Sweet and Sexy

    By gbrieger3
Jessica Lemmon does a wonderful job writing a delicious story with great lines and unforgettable characters. I enjoyed every minute of this witty, flirty story filled with bantering and sarcastic remarks. This is the fourth book in the Real Love series and it is a standalone. Catarina loves her job as a reporter for the online newspaper, The Columbus Community Chat. However, she is not happy with her current assignment. Her boss wants her to go on six dates with Barrett Fox and than write about the experience. Catarina is beautiful, rigid and guarded and from the moment she meets Barrett, she hates his egotistical attitude and she doesn’t trust him. But as time goes on, Catarina starts to enjoy their time together. Catarina discovers Barrett has many layers and many good qualities. Barrett was a popular Ohio State football player who made it into the NFL, only to suffer a career ending injury. Barrett is trying to get back his sideline reporting job, so he agrees to write stories about dating a reporter. Barrett is gorgeous and used to getting any woman he wants. It surprises him when Catarina doesn’t immediately fall under his spell. He admires Catarina’s spunk and enjoys making inappropriate remarks just to rile her. I enjoyed reading about Catarina and Barrett. They bicker, banter and drive each other crazy as they fall in love. Even though they are total opposites, they somehow click. I love everything about Barrett. He is a smooth talker and sweet and vulnerable behind his arrogant attitude. This is a fun, sweet and sexy story. Thanks to the author for providing a copy of this book vIa Cocktails and Books and Netgalley. The opinions expressed are my own.
  • Loved it!

    By Lynn B888
Opposites attract in this fun and flirty gem! Jessica Lemmon has out done herself with this one. Barrett talks a good game, but he's got a funny, down-to-earth side that takes a readers breath away even faster than his sexy persona. The banter between these two characters is laugh-out-loud funny, the sex is steamy and the overall book is just a super fun read! Former NFL bad boy Barrett Fox has gotten himself into a bit of a pickle thanks to his temper and a hot mic during his broadcasting job, but he's hoping his upcoming publicity stunt with an on-line gossip column will be just what he needs to get his job back and be welcomed back into the limelight and prestige! Reporter Catarina Everhart can't stand Barrett's type just on the principal of him thinking he's God's gift, so when her boss informs her she's doing a little side-job of pretending to date him for a summer assignment, she's appalled! When one fake date leads to another and she actually starts to see the guy beneath all of the pomp, she starts to wonder if they're still faking this relationship ... because it's starting to feel oh so real!
